Ella shares the joys and benefits of plant-based living. Deliciously Ella is a resource to help you live better and make vegetables cool. Starting from a personal blog, they have evolved into an app, deli, collection of recipe books, series of podcasts, a range of plant-based food products and a growing social media community that sits at the heart of what they do.
Ella Woodward started Deliciously Ella back in 2012 whilst she was still at university. In 2011, she had been diagnosed with Postural Tachycardia Syndrome, as well as Ehlers-Danlos and Mast Cell Activation Disorder. The condition affected the workings of my autonomic nervous system; she couldn’t control her heart rate and blood pressure properly, while also struggling with digestive issues, chronic fatigue, a series of infections and a whole host of other symptoms. She has prescribed numbers of medication, but unfortunately, they had limited success in managing the condition and after about a year she hit rock bottom, both physically and mentally.
At this point, she started looking into other ways of managing the condition and began researching diet and lifestyle. At this point, she starts realizing the benefits of plant-based living.
Encouraged by stories she read, she decided to turn to a whole-food, plant-based diet and overhauled her lifestyle. She starts a diary of her culinary experiments, pushing herself to try new things in the kitchen each day and rediscover a sense of creativity. She did this online through her blog: deliciouslyella.com.
She never wanted to compromise on taste – flavour, abundance and excitement had to sit at the heart of every meal. Over the next year, She learnt to cook, photograph and document what she was creating and quickly found a deep passion for plant-based living. Initially, She only intended to write for herself, but after some persuasion, She shared Deliciously Ella with friends and family and she grew from there, somehow accumulating over 130 million hits within the next few years.
A year after she started writing Deliciously Ella, She launched her social media platforms so that she could share more inspiration with her community.
She now has five cookbooks, a recipe and yoga app, five lines of food products, a deli and a podcast, but her core purpose has remained the same from when she wrote her first recipe, which is to share the joys and benefits of plant-based living. It gives her life and health back, and between them, she can help millions of others too.
